The key target areas of the three-year Sustainable Living and Working Environments project, K-EASY, include the energy performance of buildings, waste management, recycling, and smart building technologies. The project also focuses on improvements in town planning practices and building life cycle optimisation. The project’s target groups are small and medium-sized enterprises in the Finnish construction and building services sectors, building owners, and municipal and local authorities. The project aims at achieving carbon footprint reductions through improved energy- and eco-efficiency of the building stock and urban design.

In addition to the lead coordinating partner, Lahti Science and Business Park, other partner organisations in the five-region joint venture include Innopark Programmes Oy, Culminatum Innovation Oy Ltd, STOK/Posintra Oy and the Lappeenranta University of Technology, whose roles are strategically allocated according to their regional key strengths. The focus areas of the subprojects cover the energy performance of existing buildings and new construction, as well as town planning.
